Stop the world from making sense! (HB, p. 163)

Stay unhappy with this world! (HB, p. 208)

The whole point of killjoy feminism (and really, any Marxist feminism) is to change the world. Through the four “projects” of the feminist killjoy Ahmed presents in the handbook: the feminist killjoy as cultural critic, philosopher, poet, and activist; they give us the through which to do so.

“Book it:”  Re-read HB pages 233-236 to familiarize yourself with how killing joy is a world-making project (p. 233). Consider the “possibilities” (Chapter 5, p.135-138; Chapter 6, p. 190-191).

“Live it:” In your daydreams, what does the “ideal world” look and feel like for you?

“Make it:” Working together as a class we will collaboratively envision and plan for a better, more just world. Through combining our individual “spectacles” from your Activist Badge assignment and collaborative work on writing a Manifesto, we will share our “new worlds” in an “Envisioning New Worlds Fair” that we produce for the campus community.
